Unsolicited Submissions
Hardie Grant Egmont publishes books under three distinct imprints: HGE Fiction, Little Hare and Chirpy Bird.
HGE Fiction is currently accepting submissions, and please see below for guidelines. Please note that Little Hare and Chirpy Bird are not currently accepting submissions. We will update this page if that changes in the future.
What HGE Fiction is looking for
Hardie Grant Egmont will consider fabulously charming proposals for novels or series in the areas of junior fiction, middle-grade fiction and young adult fiction.
We are not currently accepting picture book manuscripts for any age group.
Submission guidelines
All submissions should be emailed to HGEsubmissions@hardiegrant.com.au
as per the following guidelines:
To be eligible for consideration, please attach your full manuscript as a PDF or word document to a short email that addresses the following.
- A brief outline of what your story is about
- Your story’s genre(s) and intended age group of the readership
- An outline of any previous publications or relevant experience.
Submissions that do not meet the guidelines will not be read. In the interests of the environment, we are no longer accepting manuscripts by post. All hard-copy postal submissions will be recycled without being read.
We will acknowledge receipt of your submission by sending an automatic response email. Your manuscript will be assessed by one of our editors, but we are unfortunately unable to respond personally with feedback due to the large number of submissions we receive.
If you do not hear back from us within 12 weeks, please assume that we are declining to pursue your submission further.
Important note
We are only accepting one submission per three-month period from the same author, so make it your best one! If you submit more than one manuscript, we will simply look at the first one and delete the others.
