THE KO - 1/14 Lambert Avenue, Newtown, Australia | 8 Sep 2019 02:00 PM
Join us on Sunday September 8 for a unique event that celebrates all things wine including making, tasting, writing about, and drawing it.
Jane Lopes is the wine director at Attica and the only woman in Australia to have passed the prestigious Master Sommelier exam. In celebration of the release of Jane’s new book Vignette: Stories of Life and Wine in 100 Bottles, published by Hardie Grant Books, we are hosting a wine tasting, exhibition viewing and panel discussion that includes a selection of leading voices in the wine and creative industries:
Jane Lopes: Wine Director at Attica and recent author of Vignette: Stories of Life and Wine in 100 Bottles. Jane has also passed the prestigious Master Sommelier exam, becoming the only woman in Australia to do so, and one of only 34 women in the world.
Amelia Ball: journalist and editor of Halliday magazine
Sierra Reed: winemaker and owner of Reed Wines
Robin Cowcher: Melbourne based illustrator who most recently collaborated with Jane Lopes on the illustrations featured within Vignette
Join us from 2pm for a tasting of local wines hand selected by Jane including: Reed Wines, Micro Wines, Bannockburn Vineyard, Lethbridge Wines and Heroes Vineyard, before settling into our panel discussion. This is an incredible opportunity to hear from some of Australia’s leading voices in wine and to taste some very special local wines.
Copies of Jane’s book Vignette will be available for purchase on the day, as well as a selection of original drawings and prints from the book, illustrated by Robin Cowcher.
